Why Inspiration is the Most Important Thing (BKI 39)

Energy, motivation and progress seem like different subjects. In fact they are fueled by one primal source: Inspiration!

Hi, this is Diana. Bright knowledge instants give you one thing you can do today to move your creativity ahead. And right now, I'm just about to head out to tango. I do Argentine tango as a hobby. I love it. I find it very inspiring. And that has me thinking about the whole nature of inspiration. Right now we're working in January and we're starting to get our motivation back.

We're trying to think, how do we ramp up our energy again after all the holidays and hopefully some break time? And for me, motivation almost takes care of itself if we focus on inspiration instead. When we're connected to our personal inspiration, this gives us the strength to work through technical and practical matters that may otherwise seem boring. It also helps us get to our instrument, our art form, whatever that may be, because we feel inspired.

So the inspiration actually will take care of the practical matters as well as the more intuitive emotional aspects. So what I would love you to do today is to ideally write down, because writing things down has a magical power. Write down the things that inspire you. Start your year off with having a really clear picture of your personal inspiration. Everybody's inspiration is going to look different, and that's why everybody's style is different.

This is a beautiful thing. So what things inspire you? What do you find beautiful? What do you admire? We could even say, what people do you admire? What role models do you have? Because role models can be an incredibly aspirational and inspirational source of creativity for us. So when I think about tango, what does it do for me? Well, it reinspires me to hear music in a different way because I'm not actually playing it.

As I move to music and I dance and I have my whole body involved, it makes me realize how much the whole body is involved in harp. And by the way, the way you actually hold your chest is identical to how you hold the harp. So I get all sorts of technical information as well, just to name a few examples. So for you, what is your inspiration? Write these things down.

And this is for your eyes only. This inspiration is what will keep you going through the year, through the hard times when we're kind of slogging and we're really refining our skills. It will also take care of the motivation in terms of the desire and the want and the need, because that inspiration is like a type of fire. So write down your inspiration right now and keep it close to your heart this year.

Let me know how it goes. Bye.
