Stressed about resolutions? Try this instead! (BKI 38)

“Resolutions” sound hard, a struggle, a big old slog. Because I believe in flow: grind fades as you create and engage more than ever. Yet with no target, how can you achieve your goals in our wide, wild world? I found that when I set resolutions as my target, I ended up resenting them. So they backfired. Instead, here’s what I’ve learned about setting targets with heart and space.

Hi, this is Diana. Bright Knowledge instance give you one thing that you can do today to move your creativity ahead. And as we move into the New Year, this is a time when people make many resolutions, New Year resolutions. And oftentimes those get broken. And I personally believe it's because resolutions sort of have a forceful nature behind them, almost like punitive, a little bit of a drag after a while.

You get excited initially, but then they turn and to something of an obligation, which is not fun. So instead, what I would love to offer you is rather than resolutions, intentions. Set your intentions for the coming year. What do you intend for yourself? What do you intend to feel? What you intend to do? What do you intend to create? All of these are from a positive frame of mind when you say intentions.

And they also allow a little bit of space, a little bit of magic to come in. Because, yes, your intention is for something to happen, but you're also leaving a lot of space for something even better to show up, which often happens if we're in a positive state of mind. Resolution kind of puts everything in a box and it closes things down somewhat. Also causes great frustration when things don't work out exactly the way you planned.

Try intentions instead and see if you end up not only more joyful, but with something even better than you expected by.
