How Seeing Life as Collaborative (Not Competitive) Reduces Fear and Boosts Creativity (BKI 45)
Hi, this is Diana. Bright knowledge instants give you one thing that you can do today to move your creativity ahead. And when I look back on history, which is always a great source of inspiration to me for learning and creativity, I notice a big divide in framing of how we see history. There's kind of the old school version, which is what I learned of seeing history through competitiveness, seeing it through wars and struggles versus now.
What I'm noticing is seeing history more through the lens of collaboration and cooperation, such as trade and exchange of ideas. And it makes me think about how we approach life today. When we see the world as essentially one of competitiveness. It can make us feel really afraid. It can make us not want to create, not want to share our art. There's a huge chilling effect of basically an unfriendly world.
When we see the world as collaborative, as friendly, suddenly things like performance anxiety are no big deal because we're sharing, we're not being judged. We are exchanging ideas. It's a growth for everybody. So how to get in touch with this collaborative versus competitive framing of life? Look around your life today and see all the things that you're surrounded by and who was behind those. I think you'll find that there are many more people supporting us and collaborating with us than competing with us.
I think about the computer that I'm speaking to you through and who invented them, who created them, the electricity that's powering them, who are the people who are powering the plants? And what about more immediate, who are the people in your environment and what are the types of support and collaboration they are giving you? When we spend a few minutes thinking about this, I think you feel filled up with all the love and support that's available to us and that actually makes our lives function.
So try this today, looking around your world right now and seeing how much support is there for you, how much collaboration happens already for you right now, and how this feeling of a friendly world, a collaborative world, powers your learning and your creativity. Bye.
